CHAMBER UNVEILS STRATEGY TO PROMOTE VALLEY DURING PRESIDENTIAL CONVENTION - January 28, 2016
The Regional Chamber today announced that it will showcase the Valley to site selectors, national political dignitaries and journalists from the around the world during a three-day event this July.
With tremendous support from the Home Savings & Loan Co., Cafaro Co. and many other corporate sponsors, the Chamber’s “Victory for the Valley” event will focus on a site selector familiarization tour during which the Valley’s quality of life and economic development assets will be displayed for some of the world’s largest industrial and commercial real estate firms.
Sarah Boyarko, senior vice president of Economic Development at the Regional Chamber, said, “By bringing the site consultants to town, we’ll be able to tell our story in person, in our community. We often travel outside of the Valley for meetings with site selectors, so having them here with their feet on the ground is significant to our generating future economic development opportunities.”
The Chamber is using the presidential convention in Cleveland as a lure to attract the site selectors, as well as to engage important Washington D.C. policymakers in discussions about economic issues that are critical to the Valley’s future.
“Whether it’s expanding operations at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station or protecting our manufacturers from trade violations by foreign competitors, the convention provides us with unparalleled access to decision-makers who can directly impact our economic vitality,” said Regional Chamber Vice President of Government Affairs Guy Coviello.
Since the convention will attract 15,000 credentialed media, three times as many as the Super Bowl and rivaled only by the Olympics, the Chamber will also utilize “Victory for the Valley” to showcase the region to an international audience.
Kim Calvert, vice president of Marketing & Special Events at the Chamber, said, “Over the past six years, we’ve touted the vast number of positive news stories about the Valley that have run nationally and globally—a number that last year was around 750. The exposure we would gain through media at the convention puts us on an entirely different playing field, one that we can’t even begin to imagine. Youngstown-Warren, Ohio could be in the spotlight as never before.”
Other major sponsors of Victory for the Valley include Warren Fabricating and Machining Corp., Covelli Enterprises and ms consultants, inc. Assisting the Chamber with Victory for the Valley is The 316 Group of Columbus, headed by Valley native David Myhal, and Calfee Strategic Solutions of Cleveland and Cincinnati, whose team includes Valley native Raymond Tarasuck.
