Ohio Governor Mike DeWine will visit the Valley and join the Regional Chamber in honoring outstanding business leaders on Thursday, August 29, when he keynotes Salute To Business—his first major address in the region since taking office in January—at 7:30 a.m. at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman.
On November 6, 2018, DeWine was elected to serve as the 70th Governor of the State of Ohio and has had a long and distinguished career in public service, focusing on protecting Ohio children and families. He was previously the 50th Attorney General of Ohio and has served as Greene County Prosecutor, Ohio State Senator, U.S. Congressman, Ohio Lt. Governor and U.S. Senator.
Last week, Gov. DeWine signed Ohio’s 2020-2021 operating budget, which included more than $3.6 million for Valley priorities comprising the Mahoning River, additive manufacturing and our military installations.
In addition to keynoting at Salute, Gov. DeWine will also help us honor our 2019 award recipients:
- Business Professional of the Year: James Dascenzo, CPA, Principal, HBK
- Business Advocate of the Year: Michael Conway, Executive Director, Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corporation
- Non-Profit Professional of the Year: Brigid Kennedy, President, Ursuline Ministries
- Entrepreneur of the Year: Mark Lamoncha, President, Humtown Products
- Small Business Professionals of the Year: Jeff Curry, Jessica Smith & Lance Romeo, Co-Owners, Sheely's Furniture & Appliance Co., Inc.
- Salute to Labor Achievement Award: Billy Keel, AFL-CIO Community Services Liaison, United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley
As is tradition at the breakfast event—sponsored by PNC and the Western Reserve Building & Construction Trades Council—we will also recognize Valley businesses celebrating milestone anniversaries, hear from Youngstown State University about the upcoming football season and kick off the 173rd Canfield Fair with President of the Canfield Fair Board of Directors David Dickey! At the conclusion of Salute To Business, Gov. DeWine will join the Canfield Fair Board for its official ribbon cutting ceremony at the fairgrounds at 10 a.m.
