Chemical Bank, Chamber Foundation Support JobsNow

Chemical Bank announced the renewal of its annual $10,000 pledge to the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber Foundation to support education and workforce development in the Mahoning Valley. The grant will enable the Regional Chamber to continue with its efforts to provide and promote the award-winning JobsNow program, ranked the No. 1 workforce development program by the Mid America Economic Development Council.
Chemical Bank announced the renewal of its annual $10,000 pledge to the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber Foundation to support education and workforce development in the Mahoning Valley. The grant will enable the Regional Chamber to continue with its efforts to provide and promote the award-winning JobsNow program, ranked the No. 1 workforce development program by the Mid America Economic Development Council.

Chemical Bank Mahoning Valley Regional President Michael Schrock said, “Dedicated to giving back to and enhancing the lives of the communities we serve, Chemical Bank is proud to support this successful, proven program that is helping the Mahoning Valley. The Chamber’s remarkable efforts with JobsNow provide our community with growth and opportunity.”

Just one example of a company that recently and successfully utilized the multiple facets of JobsNow to significantly promote awareness to its employment needs is Taylor Coil Processing. “The JobsNow program has been an important tool for us to maintain a talented workforce,” noted Taylor Coil’s Jim Green. “JobsNow increased our application traffic five-fold. There is no question that awareness was heightened with both our employees and the general public.”

JobsNow provides a weekly news segment on WKBN to increase awareness of in-demand jobs, offers free pre-employment drug screenings for local companies, matches displaced workers with vacant positions, links employers with educators to adjust school curriculum to match local career opportunities and works with public transit providers to link underserved neighborhoods with education and employment hubs.

Regional Chamber Business Development Manager Marcy Angelo, who spearheads JobsNow, said, “Workforce development and talent attraction is the biggest challenge facing employers across the country. With the generosity of investors like Chemical Bank, and the cooperation of our many partners in P-16 education, we are ahead of the curve here in the Valley and will continue to improve the local economy and quality of life.”
