Youngstown Gears Up for a Great Weekend of Events

June 23, 2025

The City of Youngstown is preparing for a vibrant weekend of events that honor its history, creative spirit and entertainment scene.

A Toast to Tradition

Penguin City Brewing Company will host “Happy Birthday Youngstown!” at 5 p.m. Friday, June 27 in collaboration with the Mahoning Valley Historical Society and Youngstown CityScape.

The event celebrates the city with a community gathering, marking an important moment in Youngstown’s cultural history. As part of the celebration, Penguin City will unveil Renner Old Bavaria, a revival of a classic brew from Youngstown’s oldest brewery, Renner Brewing, in a new partnership with the Renner family.

An Artistic Tribute

Also that evening, Students Motivated by the Arts (SMARTS) will host a fundraiser in honor of the legacy of Joy White, a past SMARTS Circle member. At the Ohio One Building, 25 E. Boardman St., the celebration invites guests to enjoy an evening of live music, art demonstrations and an auction of original works by local regional artists.

The evening begins with a VIP Preview Party from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. that includes hors d’oeuvres, live performances, exclusive early bidding access and the chance to meet the artists behind the works on display. The main event runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Tickets are $55 for the VIP experience and $30 for general admission, with proceeds supporting SMARTS. More information and ticket purchases are available atsmartsartschool.org/jos25.

In case of rain, the screening will take place the following evening at the same time.
