Housing

The Regional Chamber and its economic development partners launched a housing strategy in Trumbull and Mahoning counties to meet growing demand for suitable and affordable housing in the region. The focus areas include improving the existing housing stock, developing new houses and leveraging available resources.

 The Chamber’s objectives include:

  • Assembling a housing counsel of the Regional Chamber’s Board of Directors that includes developers, builders, lenders and other stakeholders led by board member John Demmler, president / CEO of 717 Credit Union, to invest tens of millions of dollars into the local economy.
  • Launching an emerging developers program to help people enter the real estate development industry and provide guidance in multiple areas, including business plan development.
  • Leading an employer downpayment assistance program that encourages employers to provide financial help to their employees to purchase a home, helping employers recruit and retain talent while simultaneously creating a sense of place for the Valley among employees.
  • Other objectives include public policy advocacy surrounding housing, hosting government forums to review and update building and zoning codes, and identifying land for future development.
