EXTENSION OF US 62
FROM STARK COUNTY LINE TO SR 11 IN MAHONING COUNTY
7TH
RANKING ROAD PROJECT
Request
Overview: The Project has been presented to the
Transportation
Review Advisory Council (TRAC) for funding consideration. The
environmental
document is currently being updated using funds obtained by Congressmen
Strickland and Regula.
Project
Description:
To
construct a four lane, limited
access facility from State Route 225 in Alliance (Stark
County) to State
Route 14 in Salem
(at the U.S. 62
Bypass). The approximate route would
travel through Sebring, Beloit, Smith
and Goshen
Townships. Phase II of the project would continue from
the U.S. 62 Bypass in Salem through Washingtonville to State Route 11
in Beaver
Township, Mahoning County.
Project
Cost:
Total
estimated
cost: $ 69 million
Phase
I & II: From S.R. 225 in Alliance (Stark
County) to S.R. 14
in Salem,
(Columbiana County) $41
million
Phase
III: From S.R. 14 in Salem
to S.R. 11 in Beaver
Township,
Mahoning County $28 million
Economic
Impact:
When
complete, U.S. 62 would
connect the three intermodal facilities in Northeast Ohio; the Neomodal
truck
to rail facility in Navarre,
the Ohio River Port
in Wellsville, and the cargo airpark at the Youngstown-Warren Regional
Airport. By tying these three facilities together, the
state of Ohio would create a unique intermodal freight network that
would
reduce shipping costs and time delays for area manufacturers and
enhance the
competitiveness of the businesses in the this area.
Current
Status: 1/17/06
