Request Summary: 

The community is requesting $479,600 (55%) of the total estimated project cost.  The remaining portion will be covered by state and local sources and local user fees.

Project Description:

Project includes the installation of a 24-inch sanitary sewer (from Galluppi Drive east to Hubbard Road in Coitsville Township, Mahoning Co.), approximately 4.575 linear feet (.86 mile), for the development of a sewer service area to approximately 112.4 acres of industrial zoned property along the entire right-of-way of said sanitary sewer.

Economic Impact:

There are 31 parcels of industrial zoned parcels involved with the front 800 feet of depth both north and south, having a total linear frontage of 9,150 feet.  Additional acreage along the route to the rear of the front 800 feet of industrial zoning includes a combination of agricultural and residential zoned lands.  The area is one of the most economically distressed parts of the county according to 1990 Census Data and would provide a significant impetus to economic development in the area.

Current Status: 3/1/06

The plans for the extension of the sanitary sewers in this area were completed in 1983 by Richard A. Marsico and Associates and may be revised by the Mahoning County Sanitary Engineers Department upon readiness of funding.  Officials still have not retained a commercial entity to commit to locating in area.  EDA funding requires commercial development commitment.  FY2006 Appropriations Bill request for $479,600 has been submitted to Congressman Ryan and US Senators Voinovich and DeWine. FY2007 Appropriations Bill request has been submitted through Congressman Ryan and US Senators Voinovich and DeWine for a total of $479,000 for this project.
