REGIONAL CHAMBER EXECUTIVE STAFF BIOS





Thomas M. Humphries
President & Chief Executive Officer
Humphries has been the president and CEO of the Regional Chamber since April 1997. He oversees the operational functions for the organization and initiates, leads and facilitates the overall strategic plan of economic development and member service issues and promotes and enhances the Chamber’s image throughout the service region. Under his leadership, the organization has enjoyed unprecedented growth in both total number of members and membership services provided. The 3,000 member companies and organizations today represent well over 150,000 employees.

Prior to taking the helm at the Chamber, Humphries was a general manager for Sprint’s Ohio East region. He is a principal of Data Voice Systems Review, Inc., which audits, analyzes and implements telecommunications and associate services for companies across North America, and his experience in the telecommunications industry has spanned 40 years.

Humphries is a founding member of Team Northeast Ohio (NEO), serves on the boards of several local, regional and state community and economic development organizations and received a governor’s appointment to the board of Partnership for Continued Learning in Columbus.



Bruce H. Luntz
Chief Financial Officer
Luntz, who joined the Regional Chamber as controller in 1999 and was promoted to CFO in 2003, oversees all financial operations for the Chamber, its related entities and other not-for-profit organizations. He and the Finance Department focus primarily on the generation of accurate, timely and meaningful financial reports that enable management and the Board of Directors to effectively and efficiently react to changing economic conditions.

He previously served as controller for Tri County Distributing, Inc. and as vice president of United Truck Parts in Girard, Ohio. Luntz is a graduate of Youngstown State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a major in accounting.



Kim Calvert
Vice President, Marketing & Business Services
Calvert had been part of the Marketing and Communications team at the Regional Chamber since 2001, when she began as communications specialist. She was promoted in 2004 to manager and again in December 2006 to vice president of Marketing & Communications. In September 2008, she was made vice president of Marketing & Business Services. In this position, Calvert is responsible for overseeing all events/programs, membership and advertising sales, member services and the management of Leadership Mahoning Valley. She retains marketing duties, including the supervision of all Regional Chamber publications, the website and other marketing materials.

Before joining the Chamber, Calvert's positions included communications and marketing specialist for Phar-Mor Corporation in Youngstown and staff writer/reporter for Salem News in Salem, Ohio. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in professional writing and editing and her Master of Business Administration from Youngstown State University in 1997 and 2005, respectively.



Tony Paglia
Vice President, Government Affairs
Paglia joined the Regional Chamber in May 2007. He advocates at federal, state and local levels for issues important to the Mahoning Valley’s business community. He also promotes important Chamber initiatives, including government reform, county home rule charter government, regional collaboration and shared services among local governments and school districts and improved preparedness for people running for local government office.

Prior to joining the Chamber, Paglia was senior regional editor at The Vindicator for 19 years. He also spent time at the newspaper as Trumbull County editor, Warren bureau chief and as a reporter. During his tenure, he and his staff received more than 40 reporting and writing awards. Prior to his employment with The Vindicator, Paglia was press secretary in Washington, D.C., for a U.S. Congressman from Erie, Pennsylvania, and political reporter for the Sharon Herald in Sharon, Pennsylvania. He also has served as an adjunct journalism instructor at Youngstown State University. He is a graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.



Eric Planey
Vice President, International Business Attraction

Vice president of International Business Attraction since joining the Regional Chamber in 2009, Eric Planey formulates targeted strategies to bring direct and indirect global investment to the Youngstown-Warren area and helps Valley businesses increase access to global markets.

Immediately prior to joining the Chamber, Planey served as vice president of the Leveraged Finance Department of Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi’s U.S. Corporate Banking Group. He also worked as vice president in several other departments of the New York, Tokyo and Shanghai offices of Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.

The Youngstown native earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a focus on finance from Bowling Green State University in 1995 and a master’s degree in international management from Thunderbird Global School of International Management in 2000.
