Patriot Water Treatment |
Patriot Water Treatment Patriot Water Treatment LLC, one of the many companies capitalizing on opportunities presented by the Marcellus Shale and Utica Shale fields, treats water used in the fracking process to access the shale fields' oil and gas deposits. The company opened the first of four regional water treatment plants late December 2010 and has been accepting water for treatment at its Warren Commerce Park facility. The Warren plant currently has 15 workers. Warren is located "right in the middle of the gas play that's here" in the Marcellus and Utica deposit regions and provided a "great employment base" to hire from, Patriot's president Andrew Blocksom said. The plant, permitted to treat 100,000 gallons of water per day, has the capacity to treat up to 300,000 gallons daily. If Ohio EPA grants a permit for the plant to run to full capacity, employment could grow to 35. The bulk of the jobs generated by the plants -- additional facilities are planned for Ashtabula, East Liverpool and Steubenville -- would be in trucking. The four plants, once up and operating, could generate 400 to 600 jobs in all, Blocksom said. |

The company is also doubling the size of their Wheatland, PA, plant. Both investments enable Wheatland to expand its size range capability in the products, which are used in a variety of applications: agricultural equipment, automotive parts, hydraulic equipment, fluid power applications and machined parts.
