On-the-Job Training National Emergency Grants
Overview |
On the Job Training National Emergency Grants (OJT-NEG) provide a method to jump start re-employment for dislocated workers experiencing prolonged unemployment by enabling employers to create training and job opportunities for these individuals through an “earn and learn” program. |
Benefits |
Program participants are given an opportunity to develop applicable occupational skills while earning a paycheck while employers training program participants receive reimbursement to offset the extraordinary cost of training workers. OJT will help workers become proficient in needed skills and encourage employers to hire these well-qualified individuals. |
Eligibility |
Ohio’s OJT program aims to place prolonged unemployed dislocated workers in permanent jobs by reimbursing eligible employers for the costs of training the individuals they commit to hire based on a percent of the trainee’s wages. Employers in statewide targeted industries, employers from an Ohio Skills Bank targeted industry and employers hiring in a local demand occupation qualify for OJT-NEG. Eligible training participants are individuals that have been unemployed for 22.53 weeks (158 days) or longer.
