The workings of federal, state and local government and their effects on the Mahoning Valley business community are the focus of the Government Affairs division. The Regional Chamber is an advocate for local business interests and seeks to influence those at all levels of government to improve the economic vitality of Youngstown, Warren and surrounding areas. Redesigning Ohio: Transforming Government into a 21st Century Institution
In a significant reimagining of state budget issues and Ohio government, in 2010 nine Ohio-based metropolitan chambers of commerce — including the Regional Chamber — jointly released Redesigning Ohio: Transforming Government into a 21st Century Institution, a report recommending sweeping changes designed to help Ohio improve economic performance and reduce costs. In December 2012, the Metro Chambers of Ohio reported on the progress that has been achieved since Redesigning Ohio's release, providing a series of recommended next steps to continue to make government more effective and efficient. The Regional Chamber supports collaborative groups to promote local collaboration and cooperation in the Mahoning Valley.
